John 6

After this, Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias.
A large crowd followed him because they had seen the miracles he performed on the sick.
Jesus went up on a mountain and sat there with his disciples.
The Passover, a Jewish festival, was soon approaching.
When Jesus looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward him, he asked Philip, "Where can we buy bread so these people can eat?"
He said this to test him, because he already knew what he was going to do.
Philip replied, "Even two hundred denarii worth of bread wouldn't be enough for each of them to have a little bit."
One of his disciples, Andrew, who was Simon Peter's brother, said to him,
There is a boy here with five barley loaves and two small fish, but what is that for so many people?
And Jesus said, "Have the men sit down." The area was covered with plenty of grass where they were. So the men sat down, numbering about five thousand.
Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks, he handed them out to the disciples. The disciples then distributed them to the people who were seated. He did the same with the fish, giving them as much as they wanted.
After everyone had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over, so that nothing goes to waste."
So they collected the leftovers and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves that were left over by those who had eaten.
When the people saw the miracle that Jesus had performed, they said, "Truly, this is the prophet who is to come into the world."
When Jesus realized that the people intended to forcibly make him a king, he withdrew to a mountain to be alone.
As evening arrived, his disciples went down to the sea,
They got into a boat and set out across the sea toward Capernaum. By then it had gotten dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them.
The sea grew rough because a strong wind was blowing.
So after they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, coming near the boat; and they were frightened.
But he says to them, "It is I; do not be afraid."
Then they eagerly welcomed him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
The next day, the people who were on the opposite shore of the sea noticed that there was no other boat there, except the one the disciples had boarded. They saw that Jesus had not gone with his disciples in the boat, but that his disciples had left by themselves.
However, other boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
When the people realized that Jesus and his disciples were not there, they also got into boats and went to Capernaum to look for Jesus.
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"
Jesus answered them, saying, "Truly, truly, I tell you, you are looking for me not because you saw the miracles, but because you had your fill of the loaves."
Do not work for food that spoils, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For God the Father has put His seal of approval on Him.
They asked him, "What should we do to accomplish the works of God?"
Jesus replied to them, "The work of God is that you believe in the one he has sent."
They asked him, "What sign will you show us so that we can see it and believe you? What are you going to do?"
Our ancestors ate manna in the desert; as it is written, "He gave them bread from heaven to eat."
Then Jesus told them, "Truly, I assure you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven."
The bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
Then they said to him, "Lord, always give us this bread."
And Jesus told them, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."
But I told you that even though you have seen me, you do not believe.
Everyone that the Father gives to me will come to me; and the one who comes to me, I will never turn away.
I came down from heaven not to follow my own desires, but to do the will of the one who sent me.
This is the will of the Father who sent me: that I should not lose any of what he has given me, but will raise it up on the last day.
This is the will of the one who sent me: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day.
The Jews began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven."
They asked, "Isn't this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he then say, 'I came down from heaven'?"
Jesus responded to them, "Do not grumble among yourselves."
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them; and I will raise them up at the last day.
The prophets wrote, "They will all be taught by God." Therefore, everyone who has heard from the Father and has learned from Him comes to me.
No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.
Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in me has eternal life.
I am the bread of life.
Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, but they died.
This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone who eats it will not die.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever. The bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
The Jews argued heatedly among themselves, asking, "How can this man offer us his flesh to eat?"
Then Jesus told them, "Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves."
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day.
My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.
Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven: not like the manna your ancestors ate and then died. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.
He said these things while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
Therefore, many of his disciples, upon hearing this, said, "This is a difficult teaching; who can accept it?"
Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus asked them, "Does this upset you?"
What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before?
It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh offers no benefit. The words I speak to you are spirit and they are life.
However, some of you do not believe. Jesus knew from the start who did not believe and who would betray him.
He said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted to him by my Father."
From then on, many of his disciples turned away and no longer followed him.
Then Jesus asked the twelve, "Do you also want to leave?"
Then Simon Peter replied to him, "Lord, who else can we go to? You have the words of eternal life."
We believe with certainty that you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
Jesus responded to them, "Didn't I choose you twelve, yet one of you is a devil?"
He was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for Judas was the one who would betray him, despite being one of the twelve disciples.
